Badgers won yesterday! 7-1!

Last night our friend Ben had an apartment-warming party at his place a few blocks away. It was a good time. I woke up fairly early this morning and ran some errands on the south side while Cindy was still asleep. I had to go buy some things to winterize the sweet ride that is the Chevy Cavalier. I have to say that I love this time of the year. I drove through some really neat neighborhoods this morning and just admired the leaves changing color. The Packers lost this afternoon and now sit at 1-5 on the season. What is really frustrating is that all of their losses have been close games. Oh well, I guess the only way they can go at this point is up. Tomorrow is my first day at Compusa; hopefully it goes well.

I finally got around to trying the Vietnamese place right in front of my apartment. Five crab wontons for $2.95? Hell yes. They had coconut juice, too. I love coconut juice. I drank two cans. It was good.

I wrote a letter to the editor of the Minnesota Daily, the U of M student paper. Here is a link to the article along with the full text of it:

Bad Gophers

After visiting my brother in his University of Minnesota dorm following the Wisconsin victory this past weekend, I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me when I went back to my car: two slashed rear tires. (Coincidentally, I was going to have new tires put on the car this week anyway). Although I do have University of Wisconsin stickers on the car, I also have Minnesota plates and now live in downtown Minneapolis. While I am one of the most fanatical Wisconsin fans you will ever meet, I have never crossed the line and damaged the property of visiting fans in Madison. I have some advice for all of you Gophers. Instead of directing your anger over the loss toward Wisconsin fans, put it toward something useful, like mobilizing an effort to get your own stadium and livening up your student section. Instead of coming to Madison for Halloween and Mifflin this year, stay in Minnesota and work on improving your own campus instead of coming to trash ours.

Well, I had a very eventful weekend. On Friday night we went to Cargill Corp. for an alumni reception. Chancellor Wiley was there along with some deans from various schools on campus. We were probably the youngest people there but it was really cool talking to fellow alums and hearing about their experiences while they were in school. The tailgate before the game was amazing as was the game. After the game my tires got slashed while Mike and I were visiting Rob in his dorm. Lucky for us we were going to get new tires put on this week anyway. This weekend we might be heading to Madison for the UW Homecoming.

The Michigan game at Camp Randall was awesome; it definitely ranks up there as one of the best games I’ve been to. I’ve already been back for two games in Madison and I’ll be going to the game up here in a week, so that’s not too shabby I guess.

I am still looking for a job. It’s starting to get really discouraging considering I’ve been looking for about six weeks. Tomorrow is my first day at Marshall Field’s, but it doesn’t really count because I was hired as seasonal and could very well be terminated in three months.

This weekend Cindy’s parents are coming up for her birthday, but I’ll be at work all day Saturday and Sunday, which means I’ll be missing the Badger game. We are going to Uptown tonight with some friends and I’m taking her out to Palomino tomorrow night.

It sure did get cold fast up here. North Dakota had a few feet of snow in some places in the past few days. I guess it is fitting then that the NHL kicked off last night. I am so excited to have a home hockey team to cheer for and lots of hockey to watch on TV. The park right next to our apartment has what will be a nice skating pond when it freezes; I can’t wait.

Anyone been watching any good TV so far this season? I’m hooked on Lost and have been watching Invasion, which is on right after it. I also think I’m going to get back into Smallville after not watching any of last season since Cindy always watches. New South Park season kicks off in about a week and supposedly new Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes will be airing in December.

My site redesign using CSS is going much more slowly than I would like, mostly because I’m too distracted with the job thing to be able to sit down and work on it without feeling guilty. I have hardly played any video games in the past two months, either. You would think since I’ve been unemployed that I would be just playing video games all the time, but I feel too guilty. I feel like I should be looking for a job instead of doing anything fun or frivolous.
