Friday, July 8th, 2005I said a few weeks ago I was going to do a recap of the past few weeks, so here it is in its entirety.
Ryan and Tricia’s Wedding/Noah’s Ark (6/8 – 6/13)
The wedding was on Saturday, June 11 and I went home on Wednesday, June 8th. RyanJ came up from Tennessee on Wednesday to stay with me. That night RyanT, RyanJ, Mike, Mark, and myself all went to the Brewers game where the Yankees crushed them. On Thursday RyanJ and I just bummed around, got our tuxes, and met RyanT in Racine for lunch. On Friday we went to Paintball Dave’s in Milwaukee and it was a blast. I would love to play more but it cost us $50 per person. That night we had to go to the wedding rehearsal, which was followed by dinner, courtesy of RyanT’s parents. The wedding was amazing. Tricia’s uncle performed the ceremony and the wedding was held at the church that Tricia’s dad is the pastor of. Afterwards we went to Whitnal Park, which is one of my favorite parks, to take pictures. The reception was on the southwest side of Milwaukee. It was really cool to have RyanJ, RyanT, Brian, and myself all together since that rarely happens anymore. Oh, and Ryan and Tricia getting married was cool, too.
The Monday after the wedding was A-Day at Noah’s Ark, which means that I got to go for free with an A on my report card. I spent the next few days in Madison and then took off for Minneapolis to go apartment hunting…
Apartment Hunting in Minneapolis/Gina’s/Nextfest (6/19 – 6/23)
We drove to Minneapolis on Sunday, June 19 and stayed until Wednesday, June 22. The trip was pretty good considering that I only spent $10 of my own money. (Target paid for everything). On Monday we went to look at apartments and Target was kind enough to provide us with a chaperon. She picked us up from our hotel and took us to all of our appointments, which she had already scheduled for us. We looked at some really cool places, but in the end we decided on One Ten Grant. We’ve already signed the lease, which begins August 1st and here is our floor plan. I’m pretty excited about the apartment. It’s got an awesome outdoor pool, which gets covered in the winter so it can be used year round, a hot tub inside by the fitness center, and free continental breakfast, among other things. Our apartment itself is on the 21st floor and has amazing views of the city. We actually were extremely lucky that we got the apartment. The day we went to One Ten Grant we looked at a one bedroom but by the time we called later in the day it had already been taken. We decided on a second choice and went the next morning to fill out an application just to guarantee that we would have a place to live. We had told One Ten Grant to give us a call should anything open up and lucky for us that day someone asked about getting out of his or her lease. We wanted a two bedroom more than a one bedroom so we were really lucky.
We left Minneapolis on Wednesday and headed to Gina’s house in LaCrosse. We ended up spending the night there and came back to Madison on Thursday. We were only here for a little over 24 hours before we headed home for the weekend. Nextfest was going on that weekend on Navy Pier and I wanted to check it out. It’s basically a world’s fair for technology with a lot of really cutting edge stuff. I went to order my tickets online on Friday night to discover that they had sold out and were only going to be available at the door on Saturday. Taste of Chicago and some other stuff was going on downtown so I decided to stay home. We did some furniture shopping on Saturday in Milwaukee and then came back to Madison Sunday evening.
I was actually here last weekend for the Fourth. Cindy and I went to the terrace on Saturday to watch the fireworks across the lake, although our view was somewhat blocked. I didn’t have that much fun because I was sick for most of last week and still wasn’t 100% on Saturday. This past week I just worked a lot. This weekend I think I will be doing some more furniture shopping and hopefully getting some website/job stuff done. Have a good weekend everyone.
